Kaakit-Akit Planet

Kaakit-Akit Planet is a time-lapsed interactive exhibition which explores evolution through human attention. The installation combines sculpture with technology to shed a new light on both human attraction and natural phenomena. See the birth of a new ecosystem on Saturday, November 19th at 9pm, and return again before November 27th to watch as the influence of its viewers have shaped its growth and development.

Kaakit-Akit Planet is a physical representation of its creators views on the abstract concept of art. While the quality of art can be seen as fully subjective, the historical longevity and impact of a piece or technique remains a function of the interest it is able to draw from its viewers, whether those viewers consist of only the artist or many societies over thousands of years . Kaakit-Akit Planet presents a literal manifestation of this concept: tangible pieces of art grow, die, and reproduce according to the attention they are able accrue. As the ecosystem evolves it is the intrigue of its viewers, not the quality of its inhabitants, that shapes this dynamic landscape.

Kaakit-Akit Planet is located a The Frame, 5200 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA. Adjacent to Carnegie Mellon at the intersection of Forbes Ave and Margaret Morrison Ave.
